ABOUT US
Our History
From humble beginnings, we are all here because Pastor Herb Hiatt listened to God many years ago
Heartland Church was birthed from a vision given to its founder Pastor Herb Hiatt in 1987. The church began with a desire to reach Winamac with a positive message of hope and freedom. Grace Community Church as it was known then, grew in just a few short years to a thriving and active congregation in Winamac.

In 1998, the dream to establish churches came alive again when Pastor Herb felt called to start another church, this time in Plymouth, IN. At the same time, Herb's son Heath Hiatt became senior pastor of our church in Knox, IN where his wife Pastor Misti Hiatt is currently the Campus Pastor.
Pastor Herb faithfully led the church in Plymouth until 2015 when he was once again called to build a church, but this time an existing church, in Logansport, IN. In 2018 Pastor Chris Miller officially became the Campus Pastor of Heartland Plymouth where she serves today.
The church in Logansport was originally launched in 1999 by Pastor Herb's Associate Pastor, Jim Howard, as the 4th church. In 2015 Heartland Logansport purchased the Logansport Community Center from the City of Logansport and began a complete renovation of the building with Pastor Herb as the Campus Pastor and also overseeing the renovation. In 2022 Pastor Hagin Hiatt, Pastor Herb’s grandson, took the reigns of Heartland Logansport as the Campus Pastor.
In 2015, Pastor Jim Howard and his wife, Pastor Michelle Howard followed God’s leading on their hearts to start a new Heartland Church in Rochester, IN where they are today.
Biker Church started in 2008 with a leading by God to reach out to and minister to bikers and motorcyclists as an under reached group within our community. For the first 12 years of its existence Biker Church moved from location to location in South Bend, IN and Mishawaka, IN often sharing buildings with other churches as it continued its mission to minister to bikers. But in 2020 Biker Church found its home Lakeville Indiana with its own building and a call to expand its ministry to the community of Lakeville. While the calling to minister to bikers still remains, out of Biker Church was born our newest church, Heartland Lakeville. In April 2025 Pastor Aaron Mattix became the Campus Pastor for a combined church of Biker Church of the Heartland and Heartland Lakeville
Heartland Bourbon began life as a home church in 2008 but eventually grew into a community campus in March 2014 and continues to grow under the leadership of Pastor Marc Miller since he took the position of Campus Pastor in 2019.
In August of 2023 we launched Heartland at Home, a fully online campus as a campus accessible to people who are unable to attend church in a physical location. Just another way that Heartland continues to evolve to meet the needs of the community around us.
