Misfits 1: Jeremiah

What do you do when following God means standing alone?

In the first message of our Misfits series, we look at the life of the prophet Jeremiah—a young man called by God to deliver an unpopular message to a nation that refused to listen. For forty years, Jeremiah faithfully warned God’s people to repent, even as he faced rejection, ridicule, and discouragement.

His story reminds us that being faithful to God has never been about fitting in with the crowd. Instead, God calls His people to stand firm in truth, even when it’s difficult. Like Jeremiah, we can trust that God has called us, that He will be with us, and that our responsibility is faithfulness—not controlling the outcome.

This message explores what it means to:

  • Remember that God has called you and is with you.

  • Stay faithful through discouragement.

  • Value God’s opinion above human approval.

  • Trust God with the results of your obedience.

  • Love people deeply while courageously speaking God’s truth.

If you’ve ever felt out of place because of your faith, Jeremiah’s story is a powerful reminder that you are not alone. God often works through those who are willing to stand apart from the crowd and faithfully follow Him.
